Choosing the Right Bathroom Vanity for Your Home – Decisions, Decisions!
When you decide it’s time to update your bathroom you might be shocked when you realize all the options that you have when it comes to selecting a bathroom vanity. In most cases the vanity becomes the focal point of the room, and let’s face it –the vanity is one of the most used items in your bathroom, so it’s important to make the right selection. Below we have some helpful tips for helping you narrow down the type of vanity that you are looking for.
It’s very important to consider sizing when purchasing a new vanity. Unless you are enlarging or reconfiguring your bathroom layout you will want to make sure to take measurements of your current vanity so that you have an idea of what size you will need. For example, if you have a smaller bathroom with a single sink vanity it would be very hard to increase to a double sink vanity without having the extra space in your bathroom. You will want to measure the width and depth of your current vanity, as these 2 dimensions are usually the two that most commonly cannot be changed without some reconfiguring. You will also want to measure the height of the vanity to get a feel for if you like the current height or prefer to have it adjusted up or down with your new purchase.
Most homeowners are most familiar with the traditional style vanity that sits directly on the floor, right up against a wall. The style you might not be as familiar with is the wall-mounted or floating vanity. This modern style is where the vanity is attached to the wall, and as the name suggests, it floats above the floor, only being supported by the brackets in the back and no legs that touch the ground. Depending on the size of your bathroom and the overall design style you are going for, one option might jump out at you more than the other.
Sink & Faucet Style
Just like with kitchen sinks you have the option of having your sink mounted under your counter top or set in on top of your counter tops. Another unique bathroom sink option is to have a vessel sink that sits up off of the countertop making itself rather freestanding.
One thing to consider when selecting your vanity is the type of faucet you prefer. While not all vanities come with a faucet they do often come with a vanity top that has pre-drilled holes for the faucet. You don’t want to purchase a vanity that has 3 holes drilled if you already know that you prefer a wall mounted faucet or a single hole faucet.
Purchasing a Pre-Designed Set vs. Choosing a Custom Design
As you can see there are a lot of elements that go into selecting the perfect vanity for your bathroom. We offer two different options when it comes to remodeling a bathroom and working with you to select a new vanity for your space.
If you are the type of shopper who gets easily overwhelmed when making a lot of decision or a very visual shopper who can’t purchase without seeing the full picture then our pre-designed vanity sets are just what you need. Custom Designed Sets
If you have your dream vanity already pictured in your head then a pre-designed set is probably not going to provide the look you want to achieve. In this case, you might want to consider purchasing a custom vanity. You will have the chance to pick out the exact cabinets that you love, selecting the door style, color, and in some cases the wood species. Click here to view our custom cabinet choices.
Next you can select a countertop to pair with your cabinets. One thing to consider if you are leaning towards the custom route is that counter top selections are somewhat limited most fabricators will only offer a remnant piece or a popular color so that they do not have to cut a full slab for such a small surface area. At Bath Plus Kitchen Remodeling we do however offer 3 quartz colors for vanity tops. They include the Cashmere Carrara, Glacier White, and Solare. You can view these color options by clicking here.
Remember, it’s important to not get stressed about all of your options as our experienced team of bathroom remodeling professionals will be by your side every step of the way, ensuring that your vanity selection will fit the style of your new bathroom and still function the way you need it to.
