A new year means a brand new batch of colors that are expected to make a splash in 2017! Even though The Pantone Color Institute has announced the color of the year to be Greenery many paint companies have their own predictions of what colors homeowners will be racing to stores to pick up – so if Greenery isn’t your style don’t worry, there are many other favorites to select from.
Behr has decided to split their 2017 color selections into 3 different categories – Confident, Composed and Comfortable. They believe that creative, social types will be drawn to the Confident palette, which is defined by shadowy blues, spicy reds, and lime greens, and are designed to capture your attention. Then we have the Composed palette which is comprised of earthy greens and taupes; a go-to color palette for traditionalists looking to create a contemporary space. Finally, to wrap their color predictions up – it’s all about pale pastels in the Comfortable category with light pinks, blues, and yellows that make the smallest of spaces pop. Its muted shades are ideal for introverts who want to make their first step into accent colors.
Other popular paint manufacturers seem to have taken a slightly different approach to their forecasts for this year’s most popular shades, offering up more muted tones. While deep grayish blues and purples dominated, some warm neutrals and bold yellows were also offered up.
While it would be impossible to adjust the color scheme of your home each year as new popular colors are announced, you could certainly take one or two of your outdated rooms and update them with a color you love. You can be assured that making an update with any of the colors mentioned in this article will make it much easier to find furnishings and decorative accessories that coordinate with our favorite hue because it’s trending.
